Big Ambitions: using blueprints

Saving a layout, getting one, and having it installed

Laying out one store carefully and then drawing the same thing again for your second and third branch is wasted time. A blueprint saves walls, floors and furniture placement as one piece and stamps it into another building. You can also take one somebody else made.

Saving your own layout as a blueprint

It works in a business, an apartment or a warehouse. Once it looks the way you want, press the Interior Designer button inside the building and choose save layout as blueprint. Enter a name, press save blueprint, and that is it.

Wall and floor finishes are saved with it.

Getting a blueprint

Downloading from outside the game does not currently work. It is due to be fixed in a later update. For now you can only get them in game.

Use the Blueprints button on the main menu. Mid-game, press ESC and choose Blueprints.

On the left you can filter by sort order, price, building type, building size and business type.

If the list is empty or will not load, press sync with Workshop. It can take a while depending on your connection.

Click one you like and press add to my library and it lands there.

The blueprint editor

The blueprint editor cannot be used from inside the game world. Go to the main menu → Blueprints and press open blueprint editor in the top left.

Installing

You cannot install a blueprint yourself. A contractor has to do it, and which one depends on the building type.

The Voogle map has a filter just for contractors. Visit during opening hours and talk to the manager; after one visit you can order by phone.

When ordering, pick three things — the building address, the install date and the blueprint to apply — and press confirm.

Two things to watch

The existing interior is emptied completely. Furniture and stock in the building being blueprinted are disposed of automatically to make room for the new layout. Do not apply one casually to a trading store.

You are charged on the install date, not the order date. If the balance is short on the day, the work does not go ahead at all. Have the cash ready as the date approaches.

For what it is worth, you can also use a contractor's own stock templates instead of a blueprint. They are expensive enough that they are not an early-game option.

Community layouts

These are Steam Workshop layouts shared by the author of the referenced post. Check compatibility with the current version, the install cost, any extra content or mods required, and how the interior flows, in the Workshop description and the in-game preview before applying one.

Community material — these are not official optimal layouts; they reflect the original post's experience and each author's description.
